Just recieved "Domestic Rabbits" magazine from ARBA

I was pleased to become a member of ARBA and I just recieved "domestic rabbits" magazine. I was pleased to find a great deal of information in it. We have New Zealand white rabbits, that we purchaced from a top breeder in New England, so I am interested in showing, I am thinking I will breed for next spring, we are all ready raising great NZW meat rabbits, that have, AND KEEP large litters and are big, but I belive that showing would be fun. I am trying to figure out how I am going to breed in winter, we are a small rabbitry raising the most high quality New Zealands for meat, (the stock came from a meat rabbit breeding program at a college, we have selected and line bred them, forward.) in our garage at this point in time, we have shed, ready to put the rabbits in but it will be very small and I still can't figure out how to do the watering, as the shed has no water, I am planning on carrying from the house, the shed has heat, so that will be a plus. We are not exactly set up for it, it is raising rabbits in the city almost. I envy all of you out there with large barns and space, but I realize that has its drawbacks as well.

New Rabbitry Set-up!!!

Silver Ridge Rabbitry is pleased to anounce that we have changed our set-up, before we were raising out of our garage, not an ideal situation, now we are cooking, we have stacking cages from our manufacturer, in a milk house adapted from my father's cow barn, generations of farmers, now in my family. My new set-up is stacking cages with trays. It is so organized and neat, and I hope to keep it that way, I can not say enough about setting it (the rabbitry) up once and doing it right the first time, I just sold off my used cages, that didn't fit into the set-up, now I have new and wonderful chalenges with my set-up. I can not stress how much you want to think about your set-up (cages feeders watering systems, etc.) As much as you want to find the best stock to begin with. If you begin with great stock and the set-up you can deal with plenty of space, a barn with poop falling, or stacking trays in basement or a garage or shed. Rabbits are a commitment, so start with the best stock and supplies. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested in seeing our set-up. 802-371-9387
